The AH-64 Apache is an attack helicopter. In 1972, the US Army expressed the need for a combat helicopter helicopter designed to carry out anti-tank missions in all weathers, day and night.

Its original manufacturer developed it during the Cold War to stop the tank columns of the Varso Pact. in the event of a conflict in Europe.

Its baptism of fire took place in Panama in December 1989. It was heavily deployed during the Gulf War (1990-1991) and in the Afghan, Iraqi and Libyan theatres.

The first flying prototype of the YAH-64 took off on 30 September 1975. On 30 September 1983, the first production AH-64A
rolled off the assembly line and was delivered to the US Army in January 1984.

From 1990 onwards, the AH-64D, a much-improved version, was tested. It entered service in 1995 and since then several hundred AH-64As have been converted to this standard. The USA owns more than 770 Apache AH-64Ds. More than 260 others have been exported.

As of July 2019, it is in service in 14 countries, including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Japan, India, United States, Greece, Singapore and Taiwan...
