The Armored Infantry Fighting Vehicle (VBCI to in french Véhicule blindé de combat d'infanterie) is a French 8-wheel drive all-terrain vehicle manufactured in France. It can carry 11 soldiers.
The
French army has ordered more than 620 units. It has a range of 750 kms
and a road speed of 100 kms/h. Its unit price is estimated at 4 million
euros each.
Several were sent to Afghanistan in 2010. About thirty have been sent to Mali during Operation SERVAL since 2013.
There are different models of VBCI: the one for the infantry (VBI) and another one for the command (VBC)
